Successful Weekend in Cork, Ireland for IABS
​
We are delighted to announce that Unique came 4th in the international quartet competition in the Irish Association of Barbershop Singers (IABS) convention in Cork last weekend. We travelled to Cork with lots of friends who we cheered on throughout the competition and we so happy for Delekate quartet, 4 on Demand quartet, and Spirit of Harmony Chorus who all placed 2nd in their respective competitions!
With 2 weeks until we sing on stage for LABBS nationals we are excited and determined to do as well as we can!
Unique Welcomes Lynette Austin as Tenor

We had our first rehearsal last night with Netti and are thrilled to have her join our quartet! We are preparing for LABBS convention with a few stops along the way. First Holmfirth Music Festival (where we made our debut a year ago!) and then the Ireland Association of Barbershop Singers (IABS) Convention in Cork, Ireland. October will be a busy month!
Unique sings for the White Rosettes!
We have been preparing for what seems like a whole year for LABBS Quartet prelims next Saturday, 25 June. To help us gain more experience singing in front of an audience we routinely ask local choruses if they will have us sing during their rehearsals...Ask and you shall recieve, because when we asked Sally McLean (director of the current LABBS chorus champions, The White Rosettes) if we could sing during their rehearsal break she happily agreed!

It was quite an honour to sing for the LABBS reigning champs and to listen in on their rehearsal. We feel extra ready for prelims now!
Pontefract Music Festival, 22 April 2016
This was Unique's first time performing at the Pontefract Music Festival and we were delighted to take home first place with Honours in the ladies barbershop quartet competition! We were the only group of the evening to recieve a result "with honours." We also sang with our chorus, Main Street Sound and cheered on our colleagues as they sang in their divisions.
Unique performed at our first ever barbershop competition Fri 1 April 2016 with fantastic results! We scored 70.8% and came 2nd out of 8 competing quartets. We were thrilled with the result and look forward to competing at more barbershop association events in the future.

Unique wins LABBS Voices in Harmony Foundation Dortohy Bosley Quartet Award
This award is given out once a year in memory of the late Dorothy Bosley. Unique is honoured to recieve this award and will be updating our website with information on our progress. If you are interested in applying next year please see this website for information on 2017:
Huddersfield Music Festival, 27 Feb 2016
Unique performed at the Huddersfield Music Festival in the Choral Groups 4-20 Singers class along with two other ladies choirs. After hearing all three groups the adjuacator had a tough time deciding the winner because each group was so different! The two ladies choirs were tied for second and Unique won first place with distinction! We can't wait for next year!
Holmfirth Music Festival, 16 Oct 2015
Unique performed at the Holmfirth Music Festival in the Small Vocal Ensembles class along with two other barbershop quartets formed from Main Street Sound (York's ladies barbershop chorus). It was our first performance together at a music festival and we were ecstatic to be awarded first place with honors! It was a great experience and we really enjoyed singing with our fellow Main Street Sound-ers.
